Training seminars and camps are educational events designed for all enthusiasts of the Shotokan Karate-Do style. They are suitable for all age groups, including adults, children, and youth, as well as for advanced practitioners and beginners. These events are held in various cities across the Czech Republic on pre-arranged dates to align with competition schedules and other activities of the associations.
Participants are divided into groups based on skill level and attend multiple training sessions per day. The training focuses on learning karate techniques through kihon, kata, and kumite, including their applications in sports competitions or self-defense. The events also include a supporting program aimed at fulfilling the meaning of the word "gasshuku."

A superb karate experience for those who seek high class training and an international community at nice locations.“
I have been visiting the Czech gasshuku for 15 years now and it is always one of the highlights in my annual karate calendar. The Organisation is simply on point and karate enthusiasts are able to enjoy training with high class instructors from JKA Honbu Dojo throughout the whole day. The team also takes care for events in the evenings and provides the possibility for an exchange with the instructors and other Karatekas from Europe.
Pat but not least, I like to explore the local area and get a glimpse of Czech culture or simply enjoy a nice Czech beer with old and new friends.
Dear Karatekas, Dear Readers,
"An Opinion from the Neighbourhood"
I always gladly visit the Czech Gasshuku because
• excellent, recognized masters of JKA Karate-Do conduct the training sessions
• despite my age, I can always learn and reinforce my existing knowledge
• I can spend extra time with the masters I highly respect, focusing on karate
• even though I cannot currently practice karate to its full extent, I gain a lot of useful information and experiences, which I try to pass on to my students
• the organization is truly good; it is helpful that karate practitioners of different levels can learn and practice according to their knowledge
• one meets many friends, including those with whom I practiced together 20-25 years ago
• it complements well the domestic (Hungarian) training camps we organize, with the knowledge and experiences that can be gained there
• I hope that in the coming year, even more of us will have these experiences!
The organizers of the Czech Gasshuku consistently exceed our expectations, creating an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that makes participants feel like cherished members of the ever-expanding JKA karate family. Their friendliness and open-hearted welcome set the tone for the entire event.
During our time at the Gasshuku, we were fortunate to have outstanding instructors who elevated our training sessions by imparting valuable knowledge on topics such as body mechanics, techniques, and the fluidity of movement. It was truly remarkable to receive lessons from these instructors, who shared their wealth of experience and technical expertise. The learning experience was captivating and beneficial for karate practitioners of all levels, from beginners to advanced students. It emphasized that the journey of learning and self-improvement in karate never comes to a halt.
Beyond the rigorous practice hours, the charming town of Prachatice beckoned us to explore its streets, savor delicious cuisine, and indulge in a wide array of beer selections. The combination of enriching training and the opportunity to enjoy life outside the dojo made for an unforgettable and fulfilling experience. The Gasshuku not only deepened our martial arts knowledge but also provided a well-rounded and enjoyable stay, both on and off the training mats. Thank you.
The Czech Karate Gasshuku is always a highlight of the year for me. Apart from the line-up with top-class trainers from Japan who give the participants the best input for a week, the atmosphere between the participants is always very familiar. The organization team and the Czech Karate Association (JKA) are loving hosts. It is always well organized. The Czech Gasshuku clearly focuses on karate with friends. Participants from other countries have now also recognized this and this Gasshuku is rightly gaining more and more growth from year to year. It's a really great event.
